10 minutes + 5 seconds increment per move. Games will NOT be rated for FIDE Elo.

PRIZES

1st prize: 100 EUR (with 30 paying participants) Separate prize per rating category and for the best woman (non‑cumulative).
Prize money will be paid by bank transfer to the account used for registration (otherwise, please inform the organizers at check-in).

REGISTRATION

You can register for the Belgian Chess960 Championship on 22 November 2026 via the form below.

The tournament will take place at the TINC+ school in Lier (Kruisbogenhofstraat 7, 2500 Lier).

The entry fee is €20. From Monday 16 November and on-site, the entry fee increases to €25. GMs and IMs participate free of charge.

At the start of the tournament, you will receive drink vouchers worth €5.

Your registration is final once the payment has been received on the new ChessLooks account number: BE30 7310 7721 5611.

Check-in before 9:30 AM, prize ceremony scheduled around 5:45 PM.

In case of doubt regarding communication or regulations, the Dutch version prevails.

STARTING POSITION

The starting positions for the Chess960 games are chosen randomly at the beginning of each round (e.g., via the website chess960.tv). All games in a specific round use the same starting position. This position is projected and announced verbally. For example: “The white pieces from left to right are: Queen, Rook, Bishop, Bishop, Knight, King, Rook, Knight.”

The following positions are excluded:

• the classical starting position
• the classical starting position with Queen and King swapped
• positions used in earlier rounds

The position is set up, players check the setup for both colors, and the clock of the player with the white pieces is started. There will therefore be no preparation time.
